Seafood and Maritime Training (SMT) closed out 2025 with a strong focus on delivering training in regional areas across Tasmania.

SMT delivered DMLA, Coxswain Deck and Coxswain Engineering courses in Strahan during November. In addition, Coxswain Deck courses were held in Smithton in October and St Helens in December.

Looking ahead to 2026, Coxswain Deck courses will again be offered in regional locations, with Smithton scheduled for September, Strahan in October and St Helens in December. Delivering training in regional areas is a vital part of what we do at SMT. It allows us to directly support industry and regional communities by providing access to the skills and education needed to build careers, strengthen local businesses and support long-term workforce development in the seafood industry.
