With direct access to the Hobart waterfront, our training facilities are located in the heart of Salamanca Place. This provides for a very flexible learning environment where students can easily walk from our training suites to the dockside; where we have access to several training vessels.
Just 20 minute’s drive from the Hobart International Airport and in close proximity to several industry centres, SMT provides a flexible and trouble-free location for your next seafood or maritime industry training course.
As a not-for-profit that services the Australian seafood and maritime industries, we have access to several vessels that enable us to provide flexible training options to suit a range of needs.
Navigator is a 60ft conquest with 1000hp, formerly a rock lobster and abalone mother ship with a fibreglass planing hull. It is a versatile training vessel used for training the Master 24, Master 45, Marine Engine Driver Grade 3 and Deck Machinery & Lifting Appliances.
An 8m ex-Antarctic supply boat, with an aluminium displacement hull and 120hp inboard power engine, Seatrain is used for vessel handling training and deck machinery training.
Mariner is a 5.05m Aluminium Open Hull Vessel with a centre console. Mariner is used for Coxswain Deck Training in Hobart. It is stored on-board SMT vessel Navigator.

We provide nationally accredited training and assessment from the Seafood Training Package – SFI and the Maritime Training Package – MAR.
