ROV Biosecurity Training

SMT offers our first aquatic ROB biosecurity training course, focused on surveillance of pests and disease.

In December 2019, SMT with Kevin Ellard from Biosecurity Tasmania, held an Aquatic ROV Course which focussed on using ROVs for pest and disease surveillance.

The course was attended by staff from government agencies from around Australia who use ROV as part of their surveillance programs.

The course combined ROV pilotage techniques which were completed at the Hobart Centre and in Hobarts Constitution Dock and ROV care and maintenance techniques delivered at SMT in Salamanca.

A second course was planned for April 202 but due to COVID-19 the course was delayed.

SMT hope that in 2021 the ROV training course can be re-schedule and will combine more advanced maintenance techniques.
