Qualification delivery and assessment arrangements

FI40119 Certificate IV in Aquaculture is delivered by Seafood and Maritime Training (SMT) through five (2 day) workshops and through workplace assessments. SMT trainers provide support to learners in their workplaces to help them complete the course successfully.

Workshops take place five times over a 1-year period, with each workshop taking two days. Workshops deliver content for all the core and elective units.

They combine similar units to give an overall training experience focusing on elements such as Human Resources, Finance, Aquaculture Risk, Teamwork, Leadership, Planning, Coordination as well as Stock Monitoring and Management.

Learners are assessed during visits from SMT’s trainers and assessors where additional evidence for the competencies may be collected in relation to their daily tasks.

Learners will be required to complete written work, collect workplace documentation, and complete workplace-based projects.

Assessments are designed to reflect the individual’s workplace and to add value to their role within the organisation. Learners are also able to discuss recognised prior learner or credit transfers with their assessors.
