Biosecurity and Induction

Who is the course for?

The course is designed primarily for participants who are undertaking a Certificate III Traineeship (Shellfish, or Finfish) as an induction into the qualification and introduction to biosecurity.

What will I learn?

This course has two keys’ parts to its delivery of information as commencement of training; 

Part 1 – Induction into the traineeship

  • Completing required paperwork as part of contracting with ANP
  • Review responsibilities and roles of the training
  • Understanding LLN, travel allowance and hours
  • Review and sign off on training plans

 

Part 2 – Introduction into Biosecurity

  • Understanding general biosecurity issue and requirements of the workplace and industry
  • Identification and reporting of diseases and pests
  • Working effectively in the aquaculture industry.

Things you need to know

Course requirements

To enrol in this course, you must be employed in the aquaculture industry and attend this course within three months of starting the traineeship. 

How long is the course?

This course is a one day program.

What sort of credential(s) do I get if I successfully complete the course?

Participants will commence the following units as part of their Certificate III Traineeship

  • SFIAQU315 Apply control measures for disease
  • SFIBIO301 Identify and report signs of aquatic disease or pests
  • SFIXSI201 – Work effectively in the seafood industry .
