SMT Welcomes First International Students for 2025

SMT was excited to welcome its first group of international students for 2025.

The students came from Seongsan High School, a public high school in Daegu, South Korea, and spent three days learning about maritime and aquaculture practices in Tasmania.

During their visit, the students toured SMT’s facilities and vessels, experienced the vessel simulators, and received guidance in Tasmanian aquaculture and diving from SMT’s expert trainers. They also visited Tassal’s feed centre for an inside look at the industry.

In addition, SMT guided the students on a tour of several aquaculture businesses across the state. They visited Jade Tiger Abalone, a Tassal salmon farm, and Cameron’s grow-out oyster hatchery, gaining valuable insights into Tasmania’s seafood industry.

This growing partnership between SMT and Korean schools aims to strengthen connections between Korean graduates and Tasmania’s seafood industry, fostering ongoing collaboration in education and industry.
