This course covers the skills and knowledge required to prepare and use waders in freshwater or marine work environments.
It includes the ability to minimise risk and use safe practices and personal survival skills in situations of flooded waders, lost footing, sudden immersion and other aquatic emergencies that may be complicated by the wearing of waders.
The unit applies to individuals who can swim and use waders in the aquaculture and fishing operations sectors of the seafood industry.

To enrol in this course, you must be medically fit and have completed a water experience and medical self-assessment form.
This is a 1-day course (9am – 5pm).
All training and assessment materials needed will be provided by SMT. Participants must bring their own writing materials, spare set of work-style clothing and waders.
If you do not have your own waders, SMT can supply these for the session.
