SMT commenced its first Master < 35m NC (M4) course on the 3rd September 2018 with 13 students.
This was an excellent turn out for this ticket and a real indication that the industry is investing more in bigger vessels!
This course runs in blocks for 8 weeks giving students time to study between each block.
Training and assessment consists of a mixture of both theory and practical including written assignments, verbal and practical assessments and simulated activities in both the classroom and on vessel simulators.
The course covers theoretical and practical knowledge of the following:
• Slipping and docking vessels
• Vessel maintenance
• Navigation and position determination
• Vessel regulations
• Watch Keeping
• Environmental management
• Cargo operations
• Confined space entry
• Propulsion and machinery operation and management
Our experienced group of trainers are working hard to train and assess participants in the course. These include David Mayhew, Gordon Goudie, Ben Tucker and Scott Strong.
